Session Notes (sometimes called psychotherapy notes) are your personal notes related to a specific session. Session notes can be created and edited prior to, during, or after a session.
NOTE: Laws regarding the privacy of personal session notes vary from state to state. Please consult your state's regulations before treating this area as exempt from potential legal proceedings.
How to create/edit notes for a specific session:
Option 1
1. Click on Calendar icon and click on a session time.
2. Click the Edit Session Notes button or the Notes tab in the dark-blue menu bar.
Internal Notes (Left Box) is where you will enter any notes about the session. Only you will be able to view the internal notes.
Example: Behavioral observations during a particular session.
Client Notes (Right Box) is where you can enter information about the session that you wish to share with the client on the client portal.
Example: You want to summarize what was talked about during a session, and give the client homework.
3. Enter notes and click the Save Notes button.
Tip: To view all session notes generated for a particular client, select the Clients icon, and then click on the desired client’s name from the Active client list. Click the Notes tab and a complete list will display under the Session Notes heading.
Tip: When viewing a note, you can scroll between older and more recent notes by using the Previous and Next arrows.
Option 2
1. Select the Sessions icon.
2. Select a tab to view a list of a particular set of sessions. Choose from: Today, Week, Recent, Awaiting Confirmation, History, All, Recently Cancelled, All Cancelled.
3. The columns on the right display SN (Session Notes), PN (Progress Notes), INV (Invoice), and HIC (Health Insurance Claim). An icon displayed in those columns indicates that a document has been created for that session. Clicking on a document icon allows you to view and edit that document.
A gray plus sign + indicates that no notes exist for that session. Click on the plus sign in the SN column for the appropriate session.
4. Add your session notes and click the Save button.
